Fissure in Ano Treatment in

Fissure in Ano, also known as Anal Fissure, is a small tear or break in the skin of the anal canal. It can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). Anal fissures usually extend from the anal opening and are commonly located posteriorly in the midline due to the relatively unsupported nature and poor blood supply of the anal wall in that area.

Causes of Anal Fissure

Anal fissures are commonly caused by constipation, passing large or hard stools, or prolonged diarrhoea. In older adults, they may also develop due to decreased blood flow to the affected area.

Other causes include childbirth trauma in women, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and poor toileting habits in young children.

In rare cases, anal fissures may be associated with conditions such as anal cancer, HIV, tuberculosis, and syphilis.

Patients from and surrounding areas can consult for treatment.
